Inspired Table : : Freeman's NYC

With the realization that the chilled air is here to stay, my thoughts go to memories of the warmest spaces and perfect fall meals.  Freeman's restaurant in New York City is one of those places.  I often refer friends and visitors to the space for at least one meal- although its not unlikely that they make a second stop.

Even giving directions on how to travel to Freemans can be a challenge- its essentially an alley bar for its parent business Freeman's Sporting Club on street level.  No signage adorns the front door (which is on Freeman's Alley).

Inside, the space is lighted with a hundred well placed votives, and a handful of bare lightbulbs in the ceiling.  Light is reflected off the impressive taxidermy collection and off the beautiful cocktails crafted at the kitchen-adjacent bar.

Make Freeman's a stop next time you're in NYC.  And then try keeping it a secret.
